Twelve months ago today
12 months ago today, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was removed and arrested by British police and security officers from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.
He had lived and worked there for seven years as a political refugee accepted by Ecuador as an asylum seeker.
He only could be arrested on April 11th, 2019 because of various breaches of international laws, asylum laws, as well as law violations in the USA, GB, Sweden and the breach of the Ecuadorian constitution. Since then he is being held in the UK’s worst high security prison Belmarsh in London.
Until the outbreak of COVID19 he was held in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day, with only an one hour break, during which all corridors and rooms were cleared of all persons before he was allowed to enter them. During his 1 hour break and approx. 1/2 hour of courtyard walk he always was alone.
Since the outbreak of COVID19 (which has particularly affected prisons and already killed at least one person in Belmarsh) he has been in solitary confinement for 23 1/2 hours, with an break of half an hour, during which he now suddenly shares the courtyard with all other prisoners.
Since his imprisonment, he has always been severely restricted from having regular legal exchanges with his attorneys, but since the outbreak of COVID19 this has been made completely impossible. Nevertheless, the proceedings have been scheduled for May 18th and have not been postponed.
At the last extradition hearing in February, US Prosecutor Lewis clearly stated that the USA will treat and charge ANY journalist WORLDWIDE who publishes anything about the USA that is considered to be harmful to the USA in the same way as they charge Julian Assange.
By the way, the trial is about the publication of the following video:
- showing US war crimes:
https://collateralmurder.wikileaks.org/
The murderers who committed these crimes still enjoy their freedom.
Worldwide demonstrations were planned for today, which of course had to be cancelled because of COVID19.
Therefore we are marching digitally through the internet today and are asking everyone to share this post with at least 10 friends to make people aware of Julian Assange, WikiLeaks, the continuing destruction of our right to know and the destruction of our press freedom!
Thank you so much!
